Bio

Büşra Balaban

Büşra Balaban is an architect and researcher working with critical and interdisciplinary modes of spatial studies. She is pursuing her PhD studies in Istanbul Technical University’s Architectural Design Program, where she received an M.Sc. degree with her thesis ‘Non-Interior: A Critical Spatial Production at the Intersection of Architecture and Cinema’. She is a researcher in the Socially Situated Architectural Pedagogies project, funded by Erasmus+, which combines critical pedagogy, situated knowledge, and commons-oriented practices. She worked for over three years as a research and teaching assistant at Istanbul Bilgi University. Her research interests focus on critical spatial practice, feminist studies, performativity, mapping, filmmaking and viewing practices.
