Ekin Baskentli
Ekin Baskentli is a PhD researcher at KU Leuven’s Faculty of Architecture. Her project “Atlas Power: Dissecting and Unfolding the Dissonant Heritage of Nicosia, Cyprus” is funded by the FWO (Research Foundation Flanders). This PhD is part of the research project ‘Restoring Broken Journeys’ with Professor Gisèle Gantois as a supervisor (Research Group ‘Urban Projects, Collective Spaces and Local Identities’) and Professor Rajesh Heynickx as a co-supervisor (Research Group ‘Architectural Cultures of the Recent Past’). Ekin completed her Master’s studies in Architecture at KU Leuven in 2022, where her thesis was awarded the Van Hove Prize and was later selected as a finalist for the UNESCO HERSUS Prize on Modern Heritage, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
