Sabine Hansmann

Sabine Hansmann is an architectural theorist working at the intersection of architectural theory, architectural anthropology, and design research. Trained as an architect, she studied in Stuttgart and Tokyo and received her PhD from Technische Universität Berlin in 2019 with a dissertation exploring the potential of Actor-Network Theory for architectural understandings of space. She has taught and conducted research at HafenCity University Hamburg, TU Berlin, TU Braunschweig, Bauhaus Dessau, and the Manchester Architecture Research Group. Her work investigates the socio-material production of space and develops ethnographic approaches to architectural research. She is currently Acting Professor for Architecture, Space and Society at HafenCity University Hamburg and will take up the position of Acting Professor of Architectural Theory at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in April 2026.
