Bio

Ina Samdal

Ina Samdal is anchored in three professional pillars: academia, where she conducts teaching and research at NTNU’s Faculty of Architecture and Design; her architectural practice, Ur Arkitekter, where tectonic concepts are tested in practice; and her role as a farmer. This multidisciplinary engagement provides her with motivation in her professional endeavours, while also offering practical insights that inform her research. In her practice-based doctoral research, she employs design-driven methodologies to explore regenerative building materials. Drawing lessons from agriculture, she aims to develop structures that contribute to the restoration or enhancement of ecosystems, promoting mutually beneficial outcomes for both the built environment and natural systems.
